Bio

​Kat Rothman is a director, intimacy director, performer, and applied theatre practitioner whose work centers on artist-participant agency and applications of consent-forward and trauma-informed practices in applied theatre, with an emphasis on intersections with disability and gender identity. They are a Visiting Lecturer in the Texas A&M University Theatre Program and Co-Director of Corpus Productions, which creates devised and original work with community and educational organizations. They have facilitated devised theatre projects in Texas, Hawai'i, China, and Michigan. Kat received training in intimacy direction from TIE (Theatrical Intimacy Education) and IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) and has served as intimacy director/coordinator on stage and independent film projects, in addition to consulting and providing educational workshops on consent-forward practice for theatrical and educational organizations. Winner of the 2019 National KCACTF SDC Directing Award, Kat has a Directing MFA from the University of Hawai‘i. Recent productions and collaborations include You’re NOT Sick (2023), a new work focused on ableism in society; It Devours (2024), a devised work centered around intersections of capitalism and climate change; the Theatre of Convenience’s New Works Festival (2025), which emphasized the work of genderqueer playwrights; as well as the upcoming devised productions, Post-America Variety Show at Texas A&M University, and Talk Lonely to Me from Corpus Productions.
