Music Therapy: Arts & Health in Action

This interactive session introduces music therapy as a clinical and evidenced-based profession at the intersection of the arts and health. Participants will learn how music therapy supports patients and communities across healthcare, mental health, education, and wellness settings. The presentation will highlight current research, interdisciplinary career pathways for students, and opportunities for faculty and staff collaboration. Through hands-on demonstrations-such as guided imagery and music and group musicking-attendees will experience the therapeutic potential of music firsthand. Designed for participants with no prior musical background, the session provides both an engaging introduction to the field and concrete connections to research, practice and career development.
